A Flight Sock is basically an anti embolism sock / stocking which helps stop your blood from stagnating in the ankle whilst you are immobile, for example sitting in a plane for hours on end, or sitting in your car on long journey, because when you are walking around the muscles in the leg act as a pump to keep the blood flowing, this is why even when you are wearing flight socks, it is still important to get up and walk around
The crucial job of flight socks is to give the right pressure at the ankle, the ResT.E.D provide 18 mmHg at the ankle, however you will see many product on the market that don’t have this amount of pressure, and will therefore not work as effectively. These socks are very comfortable to wear with a non-occlusive band at the top, so you can be sure it won’t cut into your leg.

If you have a varicose vein on the upper part of your leg or particularly behind the knee, it is advisable to consider wearing thigh length stocking, but you should speak to your GP if in any doubt
